St. Catharines, your central destination in Niagara! St Catharines is ready for you to discover all that we have to offer. From award-winning wineries and restaurants, to our special festivals, historic sites and our unique downtown, your stay in our community will be memorable. Discover downtown St. Catharines and see our city’s unique architecture, historic buildings and local boutique retailers. Plan an exciting evening of entertainment at the Meridian Centre (a variety of sporting and entertainment events) or at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre (a variety of world class cultural performances) and indulge your inner foodie with the fantastic cultural dining in our downtown. Our city has an extensive network of quiet paved roads, cycling pathways and off road trails. You can make your way through our peaceful agricultural areas or travel through a distinct neighborhood such as downtown, Port Dalhousie or old Glenridge. We have many great cycling pathways for you to enjoy. Venture along the Wine Route and lose yourself with a walk through the vineyards, speak with wine makers and indulge a little along the way. Home to five wineries (with 85 in the region) they each offer something a little different in addition to their wonderful wines. Discover the farm fresh bakery, test your par with a round of golf, or take a Segway tour! Feeling a bit more active? Cycle your way along the wine route! Bicycle tours are becoming a very popular and fun way to travel the wine route. Whoop it up at any one of the many festivals that call St. Catharines their home. We host In the Soil (arts festival), SCENE (music festival) and three Niagara Wine Festivals! We’re also home to a pretty fantastic Downtown Classic Car Show and a culturally diverse Folk Arts Festival, just to name a few. Explore our city with a stop at St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre to view cargo ships from a viewing platform as they raise and lower. The Welland Canal takes ships between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie using 15 stairs, steps, or what are formally called ‘locks’ that make up the entire canal. Of those, eight are local to the area and three are right here in St. Catharines. It really is a unique must-see St. Catharines experience! While you’re there, check out the museum and Lacrosse Hall of Fame to learn about the rich heritage of our community. For those coming in the summer months, be sure to visit Port Dalhousie! Grab an ice cream cone and take a walk along the beach, relax while watching the sailboats drift by and have a ride on our historic carousel in Lakeside Park for just 5¢ a ride.
